Travel Season with Ricardo

* sponsored post: All comments are my own. I did receive a complimentary carry on roller bag from Ricardo luggage earlier this spring to test out and report back to you. This is not the only Ricardo suitcase in my travel supply collection.

Get Ready to Roll this summer with Ricardo

Confucius say "Wherever you go, go with all your heart." But I would add "Travel with all your heart but leave most of your junk at home". Great travel adventures begin with a small suitcase and big plans.

Summer is the perfect time to take off and travel and explore new places. Since our kids were little we had them pack their own bags (I did check to make sure there was more than just a single change of underwear and a bagful of beanie babies) and they had to carry at least something. Now that the kids are older they are great travelers.

One of the things that has made travel more fun for us was traveling light. When we are going on roadtrips is was necessary to travel light because with 4 kids in the car we had to keep the suitcases to a minimum or else there wouldn't be room for the people. When we are flying we rarely check bags and opt for just taking one carry on bag. When you only have a carry on you have the ability to move quickly - if your flight is overbooked it is easier to take the airline's offer of a bump. And there are lots of other great reasons to just go with a carry on but right now I want to get back to the carry on.

There are some great tips on packing light. My best tip is to pack things in large gallon sized ziplock bags. That way if your bag is inspected by TSA your delicates are not handled by those indelicate blue gloved hands that have been touching who knows what else all day long. The ziplocks also keep dirty close separated from the rest of your stuff while traveling which can really help keep your clean clothes in better shape. ETC.

I just love how easily my Ricardo rolls (which makes it super easy for young kids to manage all by themselves) and it is super lightweight. This might not seem like a big deal at the beginning of your travel day but after a long day of schlepping your carry on and one personal item all around it makes a huge difference. It also makes a huge difference when you are pulling your bag back out of the overhead compartment after a long flight. Your suitcase might be heavy but it won't be because of the suitcase itself - it will be everything else you managed to pack in there.

Another reason I love my Ricardo carry ons is that they are super sturdy and my original Ricardo which is now over 5 years old still looks like new ( even though it has traveled around the world and has logged a ton of miles).

So you can imagine how excited I was to see that Ricardo is a trusted brand at Costco.  I love shopping at Costco* and they are selling Ricardo suitcase sets for an amazing price. It is worth getting the larger bag in the set.

Again you don't have to trust me, or even Costco, you can check it out yourself.
