Mini Bio

In the mid 90's Mary founded the website as a place for moms to connect and talk about their favorite books and basically anything but changing diapers. In 1998 she became involved as a volunteer with Wired Safety to keep our kids safe online and in 2008 co-founded Wired Moms along with the founder of Wired Safety, Parry Aftab, to encourage Moms to embrace the technologies that make our lives easier and more fun.

A highlight of the new millennium was being asked to be a guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show discussing the topic of connecting with your kids. Some of her guest speaking engagements have included Wired Safety's StopCyberbullying roundtable held in Washington DC, Build-a-Bear Connecting in the CyBear Century held at BABW Headquarters in St. Louis Missouri and the Wired Moms Summit held at Microsoft headquarters in Redmond Washington. This past summer, Mary interviewed Jane Lynch about Jane's work on a Public Service Announcement on Distracted Driving.

Today Mary works as a social media strategist and manages a number of social networking sites and helps build social network communities, sits on  Parent Advisory Boards, and is a contributing blogger to a variety of websites.

Mary and her husband Tom have four amazing kids.  Mary grew up in the Pacific Northwest and both Mary and Tom have climbed Mt. Rainier although it was on separate occasions.  As a family they love travel, adventure, going on hikes, finding great used bookstores and spending time with friends and family.  They have lived in six different states and two countries.
