121212

December 12, 2012 is totally reason enough to celebrate!  Although I must admit that I 11-11-11 was a pretty fun day and hard to beat.

So what is the big deal with today?  I decided to go to the source: News 12.  Where better to get the news about 12 12 12 than News 12.  The big headlines from there today is one of the many weddings that are going on around the world and a concert for Sandy victims.  CLICK HERE for more news from NEWS12.

On Twitter you can follow the 121212 Concert using the hashtag #121212Concert (that seems pretty obvious).  They have an Instagram page set up, a facebook page, and a really sharp looking website.  CLICK HERE to see how you can get involved.  The musical lineup looks amazing.  This would be a great and memorable way to spend 121212 and you can help out our fellow citizens at the same time.  This seems to be the true spirit of the holiday.  People coming together in a joyous way to help one another.  Check it out.

I was planning on celebrating 121212 even before Sandy hit but I'm glad this concert is going on today.

Here are some other ideas for celebrating 12-12-12:

  • Sing the 12 days of Christmas
  • Figure out what the 12 days of Christmas are really all about (Clue it's still all about Jesus)
  • Make 12 dozen cookies and share them with 12 friends
  • Watch the movie "12" or "12 Angry Men" or if you want to keep in the Holiday spirit watch "The 12 Men of Christmas" with Kristin Chenoweth
  • Stay up til midnight
  • Stand on one foot for 12 minutes (that's a really long time....)
  • Make a Calendar for next year with 12 of your favorite pictures from this year
  • Send out 12 personally written letters (not email) to 12 friends or family members
  • Find out the 12 names of the 12 people who have walked on the moon
  • See if you can name all 12 zodiac signs
  • Go to Dinner at Medieval Times - yeah this works because there were 12 men at King Arthur's Roundtable
  • Don't let anyone get on your last nerve (Apparently you have 12 cranial nerves so take care of them today)
It is important to celebrate the little things in life.  There is a quiet comfort that comes over us when we remember that we CAN celebrate the little things.  We are in the middle of Hanukah and a couple of weeks away from Christmas and life for everyone right about now can be a little hectic.  So, put some water on the stove and heat it up for a nice glass of Russian Tea and celebrate to the day in December when everything lined up just right.

Happy December 12, 2012
