But 2013 is no ordinary year. We have survived the end of the Mayan calendar. For me it marks an entirely new milestone. January 1 marked the first day of the first full year that I will be celebrating as a 50 year old. I quietly slipped into 50 this past year but now there is no denying it. 2013 marks the beginning of the second half of my journey on my way to becoming a Centurion (or whatever name you are bestowed with when you reach the age of 100).
The first 50 years were pretty awesome and so I have reasonable expectations that the next 50 will bring grand adventures as well. The only thing is, now that I am 50, and my baby (youngest child of four kids) is 14 AND taller than me, it is time for me to get serious about that New Years Resolution of losing the baby fat I have carried around for years. Also, if I am going to BOLDLY GO into this next frontier then this child of the Star Trek generation (original Star Trek series not Star Trek Generations with Luc Piccard) then I am going to have to call in the recuits for help.
Fortunately I found that help at Mamavation. Beginning this next week I am joining an amazing group of bloggers who will all be taking the Omron Fitness Challenge. Beginning this week we will weigh in and begin a new program for healthier living. Here is one of the most fun parts of this challenge: We will be using the Omron pedometers and scale to track our progress. You have to check out their new Omron HR-500U Continuous Strapless Heart Rate Monitor with Web Connectivity coming out in February. Very Cool.
You can follow my progress on Twitter - we will all be using the hashtag #iHeartOmron and #Mamavation. You can also check back here every week as we get closer to our February goal.
Having worked in social media for the past decade + there is one thing I know for sure - it is easier and more fun to work toward your goals when you have the support and encouragement of your friends. So, your cheers and hollers of support will be greatly appreciated.
Here's to the New Year! Bring it 2013.
This post is sponsored Omron Fitness as a collaboration with Bookieboo Blogging Network and Mamavation – a community dedicated to weight loss for women and obesity prevention for families. I was provided with product and compensation for my time and honest opinions.
How Exciting! I'm looking forward to following your journey :)
